In 1969, he signed a professional baseball contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. After high school, he attended Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh and recorded the school’s first no hitter. Prior to playing college baseball, Dave was a two sport athlete in high school (Baseball and Basketball). His summer league was primarily a college level league and he competed at age 15 years old.
